towards a new typology of home
interiors, furniture, & book design
in my quest for a thesis topic to pursue during my final year of school at Kansas State, I sought to consider my personal interests as well as identify unmet needs affecting people globally.
I was inspired by the collective struggle undergone by our globe, sparked by Covid-19, as we’re all now intimately acquainted with living and working or studying within a singular space. testimonies (and personal experience) of deteriorated mental health, difficulty transitioning between work and rest, and observation of the commodification of cheaply made homes ignited within me a desire to see a practical and need-meeting yet intimate and poetic expression of what home means in today’s world.
book design
a compilation of work completed over the thesis year resulted in a 260-page monograph style book that showcases the journey toward the design deliverables.
